Line management - Artists appointed to projects Salary - £32,000 to £42,000 Contract - Full time, permanent, on payroll Page 3 About our Associate Director Roles Our Associate Directors will be creatively and personally ambitious with an innovative and collaborative approach. They could be practicing artists who will make work for TRP's stages, communities and spaces or creative producers able to bring-artists together. They will, in time, be able to define and articulate a clear and compelling artistic vision for their artform area. Alongside engaging world-class and high-profile creative artists, they will be committed to commissioning new and diverse work, supporting emerging and mid-career artists and providing talent development opportunities on TRP's stages. They will champion equity, diversity and inclusion and will ensure that it is fully embedded in all aspects of TRP's work, both on and off the stage. The successful candidates will be well-connected within the theatre industry and understand the need for balance within the artistic programme, delivering a diverse programme of work which will appeal to a broad range of audiences. They will push boundaries and take creative risks whilst ensuring that TRP continues to sustain and build its audiences and delivery against agreed financial objectives. Page 4 Key Responsibilities With the wider creative team, set the creative vision for the organisation and provide artistic leadership to TRP's theatre programme. Oversee all creative aspects of our theatre programme working closely with members of the Executive and other Leadership Team members. Work with the Leadership team to set an organisational culture that is inclusive, collaborative, safe and supportive; as well as artistically bold and ambitious. Creative Leadership Take responsibility for the creative policy for TRP's theatre programme and work in conjunction with the rest of the creative team to develop and deliver an artistic programme that reflects our commitment to innovation, excellence, diversity and inclusion, and serves its target audiences. Develop and deliver theatre productions and projects. Identify theatre artists and companies who could make work, and bring work, to TRP. Deliver an ambitious and distinctive programme that brings to life the vision and ensures a strong artistic identity and reputation for TRP at a regional, national and international level Identify and commission inspirational theatre-makers to work with TRP; providing appropriate advice and support to them so they can maximise their creative potential. Nurture a new diverse generation of theatre-makers in close collaboration with TRP's Head of Artist Development. Work collaboratively and develop co-productions using existing and new artistic relationships with creative artists, theatre makers, writers and companies, that supports the delivery of the artistic vision. Advocate for, support and create opportunities for South West based artists. Page 5 Personal Specification Experience as a theatre-maker or creative producer with a genuine passion for work for children, young people and families. Keenly interested in socio-political issues facing children, young people and families and experiencing of using the arts to help people understand the world around them. Proven relevant professional experience within producing theatre environments, as a theatre maker across UK theatre. Experience of working with commissioned writers with a strong understanding of the theatre-making process. A genuine interest in creating work for a variety of theatre spaces and audiences. Experience of delivering work against budgets. Experience of working in collaboration. Skills Proven ability to create new work.
